Built by KAD ( Kent Automotive Developments ) in 1997 for Pete Edwards. CCC Magazine had sponsored `the fastest Mini in the world` race which led to CAD building a few bespoke radical Minis , most going to Japanese collectors. Edwards car was featured in the Sep 1997 edition and used a Vauxhall 2-litre `redtop` engine by John Toovey to give 296 BHP , which in a car weighing around 440 KGS, makes for a very rapid machine. Originally the car was finished in yellow but now wears
a black livery with Shell Oil stripes as a homage to the Godfather of spaceframe Minis , multiple Champion
Pete Baldwin.
James` Mini is one of the best sounding cars on the grid and is believed to putting out around 220 bhp. The car has previously had history in Autocross and Rallycross.
